Matthew 5:44-46 reminds us that God brings rain:
44 But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,45 so that you may [a]be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
Yes, the calendar says May. But in the strange world of Los Angeles weather, where winter heat waves baked our faces and spring snow had us bewildered, it might be hard to tell we’re only a few weeks away from Memorial Day. Nevertheless, God is in control.
The National Weather Service says March was actually warmer than April in Southern California, with 125 records set or matched in March compared to only six last month.
Maybe the trend will continue: We could be getting rain during this week of below-normal temperatures, forecasters say. That would be a huge answer to prayer.
A weather system is moving down the coast and could start to affect greater Los Angeles Thursday morning, with the greatest chance of precipitation overnight Thursday into Friday morning, according to the NWS.
It could produce a light spring sprinkling, forecasters said, with a tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain possible. Whatever it brings, let’s remind ourselves to be grateful and to continue to seek God’s deliverance from the drought we are facing.
