Today Netflix has a message for you: Binge responsibly.
That’s the point of an April Fool’s day campaign from the on-demand digital entertainment giant. They aren’t trying to pull one over on you—the streaming service really is looking out for your best interest.
Netflix knows that when people binge-watch their shows, other things can… fall by the wayside. Showering, for instance, becomes less important. So does your job. And the entire 3-dimensional outside world.
If you live in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. or Ireland, and on Wednesday stream more than two consecutive episodes of a show on Netflix, a video will suddenly appear, and an actress or actor from one of the company’s original shows will warn against the consequences of binge-watching.
But if you blink you will miss it. These messages are only here today. Tomorrow they will be gone. Don’t worry though, you do not have to watch two episodes to see the messages, just search the words ‘binge warning’ and you can find them easy enough.
